    Emma Rens
Fulbright Student & Sustainable Medical Device Designer

Emma is redesigning healthcare from the ground up—literally starting with the speculum. As a Fulbright Student in the Netherlands studying eco-design of medical devices, she’s proving that patient comfort and planetary health aren’t mutually exclusive. With her biomedical engineering background from Northwestern, Emma bridges the gap between what patients actually experience and what engineers think they need. Her work at Delft University of Technology focuses on creating reusable medical devices that are both more sustainable and more comfortable—because why should we have to choose?
